Milena Bertolini will have to do without Alia Guagni for Italy Women’s European qualifying match against Denmark at the Stadio Carlo Castellani in Empoli on Tuesday, with the Atletico Madrid player having tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday. Guagni, who is completely asymptomatic, left the Azzurre’s training camp last night and, in keeping with the rules and regulations in place, will remain in quarantine while she recovers.

The Head Coach, who is already without the services of the injured Sara Gama, will therefore have another key player missing. Guagni, who was previously forced to sit out Italy’s showdown with Bosnia, was set to make her 85th National Team appearance against the Danes and would have taken to the pitch as captain.

Players and staff underwent further molecular tests this morning, while a training session is pencilled in for this afternoon. Tomorrow, the team will put the finishing touches to their preparations following tomorrow’s press conference, which is scheduled for 15:00 CET.
