Having finished their training camp at the Tirrenia Olympic Training Centre under the guidance of Head Coach Alberto Bollini last week, the Under-20 National Team will soon be involved in the Elite qualifying round of the European Championship, which, for Italy, will take place in Veneto between 7 and 13 October. Padua, Abano Terme, Mogliano Veneto and Caldiero will host the upcoming fixtures at this stage of the competition.
With the tournament having been pushed back twice, UEFA have confirmed the calendar for the second qualifying stage, which has yet to be completed due to the onset of the COVID-19 emergency.
Next month (7-10-13 October), the Under-20 National Team will face Slovenia, Iceland and Norway in Group 5 with the aim of securing the only qualifying place up for grabs for the group stage of the final tournament in Northern Ireland in November. Should they achieve this, the next step would be to make it through to the knockout stage, which will be played in the same country in March 2021.
The tournament’s top five teams will qualify for the next Under-20 World Cup, which will take place in Indonesia next year (20 May-12 June 2021).
