One final 'Notte Magica' for the hero of the 'Notti Magiche'. Tomorrow at 20:30 CEST, before the start of the Italy vs. Belgium fixture, the Stadio Olimpico in Rome will pay tribute to Totò Schillaci three weeks after his passing. A fitting tribute to the ex Azzurri forward in the stadium where he grabbed the world's attention, 34 years ago.
At the Olimpico, he scored the first four of the his six goals at Italia '90, a feat that gained him the award of tournament top-scorer and his entry into the footballing hall of fame.
The final goodbye to Totò will be emotional, in the pre-show organised by the Area Revenue of the FIGC: firstly, the stadium lights of the stadium will be turned off and the fans will be asked to turn their smartphone torches on. Then, the face of the ex-Azzurri forward will appear on the big-screen, followed by an emotional video which will show his goals and celebrations from that unforgettable World Cup, while the middle of the pitch will be lit up with the phrase '19, Schillaci'. Finally, luminous fountains will rise from the Tevere Tribune. Illuminated like the eyes of Schillaci after a goal, a spirited look which sent million of Italians into a craze, as he became the symbol of the 'Notti Magiche'.
