This morning, the press conference for the Città di Trieste International Tournament took place at the Sala Predonzani in the Palazzo della Regione Friuli Venezia Giulia. The tournament, running from today until 9 September, will see the current European champions, the Under-17 National Team, face their counterparts from Portugal, Spain, and Switzerland.
The event, which saw Coach Massimiliano Favo and player Thomas Campaniello representing the Azzurrini, kicked off with a speech by Ermes Canciani, President of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Regional Committee. 'Our region has made significant investments in sports, believing that combining top-notch facilities with youth development is the key to success. The renovation of the Stadio Nereo Rocco has been a major achievement, and I believe it has met our high expectations. This tournament is a great opportunity to showcase our region, which will also host an Under-21 qualifying match (Italy vs. Ireland on October 15 in Trieste).
The conference, which featured speeches from Stefano Avion, Councillor for Human Resources of Trieste, and Fabio Banello, Councillor for Sport of Monfalcone, ended with a closing statement by Massimiliano Fedriga, President of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Autonomous Region. 'Events like this are essential for our youth, offering more than just participation in sports; they deliver a powerful message to our communities. Sport transcends the simple outcomes of winning or losing; it plays a key role in developing the citizens of tomorrow.
