Cantone and Catena leave the Azzurre squad before departure for Salerno

Due to physical issues, forward Sofia Cantore (Juventus) and midfielder Michela Catena (Fiorentina) have been forced to leave Andrea Soncin’s Azzurre squad and return to their clubs. The two players will therefore not be able to take part in the upcoming Nations League fixtures, the first being on Friday 27 September at 17:45 CEST against World Cup champions Spain in Salerno ( live on Rai 2).

This afternoon, the squad will arrive in Salerno. Tomorrow, they will undergo their final training session at the Stadio Arechi before the match against Spain. Jenni Hermoso could be back on the pitch after being called up by new Head Coach Montse Tomè after being excluded from the first two games.

Italy has an important and complicated challenge ahead of them and will be hoping to rely on the support of a full Arechi that hasn't hosted a women's game since the Coppa Italia final between Juventus and Roma last June. The FIGC has decided to commit to affordable tickets for this game, with full prices starting at €5 and a €1 ticket for Under-18s and Over-65s. Tickets are available until kick-off at Vivaticket vendors and on the following websites: figc.vivaticket.it and vivaticket.com. Immediately after the game against Spain, the Azzurre will return to Coverciano whee they will stay before they depart for Sweden, scheduled for the afternoon of Sunday 29 October.

CAMPAIGN. Ahead of the game against Spain, scheduled for Friday 27 October at 17:45 CEST) at the Stadio Arechi, on matchday 3 of the Lega A Group 4 of the UEFA Women’s Nations League, the Azzurre will take part in the Komen Italia campaign “Prevenzione is our goal”. The national program offers an ever-increasing number of people free access to education and prevention of the main cancers that disproportionately affect each gender. The Carovana della Prevenzione will take place between the 26 and 29 October from 9:30 CEST to 16:30 CEST in the Piazza della Concordia in Salerno. Furthermore, like with the Azzurri retreat, the Centro Tecnico Federale in Coverciano will be lit up in pink to remind us of the campaign’s importance during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
