The Men's National youth teams face a busy September with all five sides involved in eleven matches in total. The Under 20s and 18s will have their season opener, while the Under 19s, 17s and 16s will be back in action following friendlies played in August. Three months after their defeat to Uruguay in the World Cup final, the Under 20s will kick off their season with a bang against Germany in their opening game of the Elite League (also known as the Eight Nations) at the auf dem Wurfplatz stadium in Berlin on Thursday 7 September at 17:00 CEST. They will then face Czech Republic in Tabor on Monday 11 September at 17:00 CEST.
On the back of their convincing win over Albania, the Under 19s will be looking to follow that up with victory against Northern Ireland on Thursday 7 September (16:30 CEST) and the Netherlands on Monday 11 September (16:30 CEST). Both matches are to be played at the Stadio Lungobisenzio in Prato. The Under 19s, who beat Portugal in the European Championships on 16 July 20 years on from their first trophy triumph in the competition in 2003, start their European qualification campaign in Sweden in November, placed in a group with the host country, Switzerland and Liechtenstein.
Two friendlies against Serbia (Thursday 7 September, 16:30 CEST) and the Netherlands (Sunday 10 September, 16:30 CEST) at the Olympic Preparation Centre in Tirrenia have been scheduled for the under 18s, while the Under 17s and 16s will be back in action following their games yesterday: a 1-1 draw and 3-1 win against Slovenia and England, respectively.
The Under 17s, who in October will begin their European adventure hosting the first phase of qualification (Group 11 with Greece, Northern Ireland and San Marino), will have warm-up tests with Germany, Denmark and Israel in a mini-tournament. To close out September will be the Under 16s, who on Tuesday 19 and Thursday 21 will take on Spain in two friendly matches in Albir.
