The current champions of Europe started off the first round of qualifiers brilliantly: Anghelé scored a hat trick, Mannini, Vacca, Lipani and Amey also bagged goalsWednesday, November 15, 2023
The current Under 19 Champions of Europe put in a great performance in Borås (Sweden) where they registered a massive 7-0 win over Lichtenstein in their debut Euro 2024 qualifying game. The Azzurrini, after going ahead through Mattia Mannini (Roma), doubled the lead 10 minutes later through Alessio Vacca (Juventus), before finishing the job with a hat trick from Lorenzo Anghelè (Juventus) and goals from Luca Lipani (Sassuolo) and Wisdom Amey (Bologna).
Head Coach Bernardo Corradi stated: “We wanted to win and score as many as possible because, especially in these competitions, the number of goals makes a difference. We could have anyway been a little more fluid in our play, I’d say that we met our objective”.
Italy is currently at the top of Group 4 ahead of the game between Switzerland and Sweden and will play again at the Borås Arena on Saturday 18 November at 13:00 CET against Switzerland.
