The second friendly at the Federal Technical Centre in Coverciano ended in another defeat, this time it was 3-1 to the Germans after the Azzurrini were chased down and defeated 3-2 last time out.
The Germans opened the scoring in the 15th minute through Fadi Zarqelain of Borussia Dortmund before Marco Scarpa’s side went level in the 36th minute thanks to a goal for Juventus forward, Thomas Corigliano. André Pawlak’s side went back ahead in the 43rd minute through Simone Cannizzaro before putting the game to bed in the 70th minute through Erik Abbel.
The Head Coach: “We started a little too scared and went behind. Then we did well to go level and, after going close to taking the lead, we gave away a goal before the break. In the second half, it was balanced overall, but we committed a grave mistake for the 3-1 after which we reacted but did little upfront. We have to understand the value of Germany and work to raise our level of determination and concentration because we cannot be punished for the tiniest mistake and we need to have clearer heads in front of goal. These games are highly competitive and help us test out new players (Kenneth Isak Mensah, Mateo Santa Maria and Rosindo Zanni, ndr)".
