Azzurrini defeated 1-0 by the Austrians. Franceschini: ‘These matches are an opportunity for growth’

The second friendly match between the Italy Under-18 team and Austria ended with a 1-0 defeat, played at the Waldarena in Velden am Wörthersee, after the first match had been suspended on Thursday in Tarvisio due to rain. The hosts got ahead in the 18th minute thanks to Stuttgart's left-back Yanik Noah Spalt, before Fiorentina goalkeeper Tommaso Vannucchi denied the Austrian captain a double by saving a penalty kick in the 75th minute.

‘It was a difficult match,’ emphasised coach Daniele Franceschini, ’against a strong team that has great physicality, as well as great ability from a technical point of view. For the boys it was an important opportunity, because they put in the minutes at an international level. I am sorry that the first game was suspended, although it was inevitable given the weather conditions. I said before, these games are opportunities for growth for those who played'.
