Azzurrini back at Tirrenia: Pinamonti returns home, Pirola, Colpani, Colombo and Vignato join the squad

The Under-21s have completed their mission; thanks to a 4-0 win against Luxembourg yesterday (brace from Scamacca and goals from Pinamonti and Marchizza), Italy booked their place in the final tournament in Hungary and Slovenia. Alongside the hosts and first-place teams in qualifying, the five top-ranked group runners-up will also reach the finals. Due to coronavirus, the tournament will include a group stage between 24 and 31 March, before the finals are held in June.

The Azzurrini returned to Tirrenia from Differdange overnight ahead of their final qualifying game - against Sweden in Pisa on Wednesday (17:30 CET). With qualification already in the bag, Italy will look to finish in style and get revenge for the defeat in Kalmar on 8 September.

Andrea Pinamonti has left the squad due to suspension while Fiorentina players Federico Brancolini and Patrick Cutrone have been left out of the squad given their continued unavailability. Four players joined the squad from the Under-21 ‘B’ team: AC Monza defender Lorenzo Pirola, his teammate Andrea Colpani and AC Milan striker Lorenzo Colombo and Bologna winger Emanuel Vignato.
