The Under 19 national team's excellent achievement, reaching the European Championship Finals, scheduled from 15 to 28 July in Northern Ireland, was accompanied, from day one, by the warmth and enthusiasm of Friuli-Venezia Giulia: Lignano Sabbiadoro, Manzano and Udine were the perfect stage for Group 5 of the European Championship Elite phase, which saw the Azzurrini earn maximum points thanks to, above all, the great organisation carried out by Friuli-Venezia Giulia's Regional Committee, in particular, President Ermes Canciani, as Maurizio Viscidi, the National Youth Team Coordinator, said yesterday: "Having played at home helped us. We've had a great time in Friuli-Venezia Giulia and been able to play in two beautiful stadiums (Guido Teghil in Lignano Sabbiadoro and the Friuli in Udine, ed.) in front of many fans who came to support us".
LIGNANO SABBIADORO. The stadio Guido Teghil, the stadium that houses Brian Lignano, hosted the Azzurrini's opening and closing group games: two wins out of two (Scotland 1-3 Italy and Italy 5-0 Georgia), which can now be added to the three previous successes (Italy 2-0 Greece on 21 March 2018, Italy 4-3 Poland on 24 March 2018 and Italy 3-0 Austria on 14 February).
MANZANO. The stadio Giuseppe Morigi was the stage for three matches, those that did not involve the Azzurrini: Georgia 0-1 Czechia, Scotland 2-3 Georgia and Czechia 2-0 Scotland.
UDINE. The stadio Friuli, where only one match was played, saw Bernardo Corradi's boys beat their Czech counterparts 2-1 in front of almost 3,000 people, writing a new chapter in the story that had previously seen the Under 19s lose - the only one in Friuli-Venezia Giulia (Italy 0-1 Spain on 18 January 2017) - and a draw, again against the Czechs (1-1), the latter in the 2018 Elite phase.
