An impressive victory for the U20s in Doncaster

The Under-20 National Team continue to impress in the Elite League. In Doncaster, in front of almost 5000 fans, Alberto Bollini’s side beat England 3-0 to record their third consecutive victory after wins over the Czech Republic and Poland. The Azzurrini’s goals were scored by Luis Hasa, who bagged a brace (he scored the opener after 37 minutes and put the game to bed with a 90th-minute penalty), and Filippo Missori (Sassuolo), who found the net three minutes from time.

“It’s a prestigious win that truly honours the Azzurri shirt,” said Alberto Bollini after the game. “It shows just how much these lads know how to fight for the jersey. We were up against a strong side who are fast and technically gifted, but we’d studied their weaknesses.” Italy, who attacked with a 3-4-3 and defended with a 4-4-2, controlled the opening period and took the lead before coming under pressure during the opening 20 minutes of the second half. After hitting the bar through Daniele Montevago (Gubbio), the Azzurrini doubled their advantage on the counter and then killed off the match through a spot-kick from Hasa, who, in July, was voted as the Player of the Tournament in the U19 Euros. “It’s been a fantastic evening,” continued Bollini. “We know about the rivalry between the two sides, and this scoreline is the result of the group’s growth.”

The team will return to Italy on Friday before getting down to work at the Mapei Football Center in Sassuolo to prepare for Tuesday’s match against Portugal at the Stadio Enzo Ricci (14:00 CET kick-off). The day before the game, the players and staff will pay a visit to the Ferrari factory in Maranello.
