A new season for the Azzurrini: Corradi to take charge of the U20s

A new season is kicking off for the men's national youth teams. And what better way to start it than in the heart of Italian football, at Coverciano…

In the auditorium at the Technical Centre, coaches working in the youth setup – from the U15s through to the U21s – gathered to listen to Maurizio Viscidi, with Head Coach Luciano Spalletti also watching on. It also provided the opportunity to officially confirm the members of staff who will be coaching the Azzurrini.

After reaching the Euro semi-finals with the U19s, Bernardo Corradi will continue his Italy journey in charge of the U20s, allowing him to lead ‘his’ lads into the World Cup in Chile in 2025. After winning the Euros a year ago, Alberto Bollini will return to the U19 setup. Daniele Zoratto will work alongside Maurizio Viscidi in the role of Vice National Youth Team Coordinator, allowing Marco Scarpa to take charge of the U16s after working as Bollini’s assistant with the U20s last season.

Manuel Pasqual, who will be Daniele Franceschini’s assistant with the U18s, and Cristiano Lupatelli, who will be the U16 goalkeeping coach, have both joined Club Italia.

Maurizio Viscidi had the following to say: “We go again knowing that we achieved a historic triumph with the U17s and a European Championship semi-final with the U19s, thus qualifying for the U20 World Cup for the fourth time in a row. We are aware that such achievements are the result of the daily work of so many people, from coaches and assistants through to match analysts, scouts and organisers. We mustn’t rest on our laurels and be aware that it’s been a long journey to reach where we are today and that if there isn’t continuity and daily work, the same results won’t be achieved. Well done for what we’ve done so far, but now we need to start planting the seeds again for the future.”
