Katia Serra donates Azzurre shirt: “Incredibly rewarding”

She is one of the best-known faces in Italian women's football, capable of combining her skills as a player - which allowed her to wear the senior Italy shirt on 12 occasions - with those of a manager and commentator, so much so that it was she who commented live on RAI, together with Stefano Bizzotto, the final against England and the European title won by the Azzurri in 2021: Katia Serra was at the Musel del Calcio to donate her Azzurre shirt, which from now on will further enrich the collection at Coverciano dedicated to women's football.

After posing with the President of the Fondazione Museo del Calcio, Matteo Marani, for the official photo of her donating her shirt, Katia Serra commented: “It’s incredibly rewarding. I feel the Azzurre colours are part of me and to have had the honour to leave my stamp on this museum, which tells the story of Italian football history, is one of the best days in my sporting career”.

The section dedicated to women's football inside the museum at Coverciano is thus enriched with another display. Visitors to the Museo del Calcio can also see in the flesh, within the exhibition itinerary, the kit of - among others - Sara Gama, Antonella Carta, Giorgia Brenzan, Carolina Morace and Rita Guarino, leading figures of a rapidly growing movement. The museum collection also includes fascinating memorabilia such as the customised boots worn by Patrizia Panico - the leading player in the history of the Azzurre in terms of appearances (204) and goals (110) - and the ball from the game between England and Italy at Wembley, won 4-1 by the Azzurre in 1990, with a historic four-goal haul from Carolina Morace.
