The jury elects candidates to the following seven categories every year: 

• Italian Player (retired for at least two years)
• Foreign Player (retired for at least two year and spent at least five seasons in Italy)
• Italian Veteran (retired for at least 25 years)
• Italian Coach (active for at least 15 years)
• Italian Director (active for at least 15 years)
• Italian Referee (retired for at least two years)
• Female Italian Player 

Further legendary figures will also be named posthumously.
