Volunteer Programme for UEFA Nations League Finals 2021: how to sign up

Not only Belgium, France, Italy and Spain will partake in the Final Four of the UEFA Nations League this October: the Volunteers will also have the chance not only to experience but to contribute to an amazing footballing event.

The Volunteer Programme

In the wake of the programmes promoted by UEFA and the FIGC (such as, recently, for the U21 Euros in 2019 and UEFA Euro 2020), an opportunity has arisen to be part of the footballing world as a Volunteer, for those passionate about sport and/or volunteering.

How to sign up. The sign-up form can be found on the Volunteer website: the sign-up process lasts about 30 minutes and gives candidates a chance to recount their experience, expectations and motivations in trying to get into sports’ volunteering. A choice of city (Turin or Milan) must also be made: volunteers cannot work in both.

Step-by-step guide. Step-by-step information on the application process can be found on the website, with a series of manuals created to facilitate the process.

Criteria. Any adult (as of 1 September 2021) can sign up for the programme, so long as they have an intermediate level of English, are willing to participate in an online interview, training meetings and a minimum of four pre-organised activity days.

Next steps. Once your application is accepted, between July and September 2021, the Team will organise an online interview. The objective is to get to know prospective Volunteers better, and discover their motivation for participating in the project and to what area of the project they might be best suited.

Necessary availability. To participate in the programme, candidates can offer availability for the two match-days or the whole preparation period, which takes place in the two weeks building up to the games.

Perks for Volunteers. To recognise the undoubted contribution that they make to the initiative, the Volunteers will receive a series of benefits, such as their Adidas uniform, meals and transport during their work, dedicated training meetings, little gifts and much more. Watching the games like fans is not guaranteed for Volunteers, but the heart of the programme is to witness the atmosphere of the Finals, meet other staff and Volunteers and for Volunteers to improve their skills in a diverse, international setting.

What happens after selections are made. If selected, candidates will become part of the FIGC Volunteer community: with the Nations League Finals, the record of over 2000 Volunteers involved in major football events in Italy since 2019 will be broken.

In September, the roles will be confirmed, as will the schedule of activities for October. Working in close contact with staff, guests and fans, the Volunteers will be, to all intents and purposes, ambassadors of the event and of the two host cities.
