The Under-21 National Team's tournament opener against Spain received 5.6 million viewers on RAI 1, taking a net share of 29,40% of the television audience which was more than the senior side’s match away to Greece. In the second half, the share rose to 30,75% with almost 6 million viewers (5,937,000). The pre-match ceremony with the rapper Rocco Hunt who performs the official UEFA EURO U-21 song was watched by 3,817,000 people, an audience share of 21.60%
The figures show the extraordinary enduring popularity of the men’s and women’s teams in all competitions as viewers continue to identify with the Azzurri.
