The government’s green light for ‘soft quarantine’. Gravina: “Another step forward for the season’s completion”

The Ministry of Health’s Memo no. 18584 has issued the green light for so-called ‘soft quarantine’ for professional football teams. In the event that a test for COVID-19 returns positive, the protocol now provides for the isolation of the positive case and their close contacts, along with a rapid test for the entire ‘Team Group’ on matchdays to allow the negative players to take part, then returning to isolation at the end of the game.

FIGC President Gabriele Gravina commented on the news, saying: “The memo regulating quarantine for professional teams, alongside the Scientific Technical Committee’s work, is another step forward for the sporting season’s completion. I’d like to thank Minister Speranza and the entire government, and I also now hope to see a great sense of responsibility from all, starting with the fans who bring passion to football every day. I hope that we behave in a way that ensures the efforts we’ve made aren’t in vain.”
