‘The Heart Scudetto’ has entered the ‘2019/2020 Footballers’ sticker album. The FIGC’s initiative awarded a special ‘Tricolore’ to the ‘Nation’s Emergency team’, thus paying homage to health staff, volunteers, law enforcement workers, armed forces and essential public service staff, all of whom are involved in the front-line fight against coronavirus.
Panini have, in fact, decided to create three extra stickers that refer to the pandemic and are designed to complete the ‘Film del Campionato’ (the League’s Film), which is a special section of the collection that displays the protagonists and highlights of the season. There are two more stickers in addition to the one dedicated to the FIGC’s initiative. One honours the image of Francesco Caputo, Sassuolo’s striker, who held a sign saying “Everything will be alright. Stay at home” during the match against Brescia. And the last one is devoted to AC Milan player Daniel Maldini, son of Paolo and grandson of Cesare, who’s a symbol of “three generations in Serie A”.
These three extra cards will be available for free on Saturday 9 May in conjunction with ‘Sportweek’ and ‘La Gazzetta dello Sport’. This is the fifth release of the ‘Film del Campionato’ stickers, while the release date of the last three stickers will be announced in ‘La Gazzetta dello Sport’ and on the official social media pages of ‘Figurine Panini’.
The ‘2019/20 Footballers’ collection consists of 832 stickers of players and teams from Serie A TIM, Serie B BKT, Serie C, Serie D and Women’s Serie A. The 128-page album has a cover characterised by the image of a football being powerfully struck towards goal. This collection contains many new features such as: ‘The Coaches’, with stickers of the 20 Serie A TIM coaches, and 20 Serie B coaches with in-game action shots; ‘The Azzurri Dream’ with stickers of 30 National Team players; ‘Top Performers’ with stickers of 20 Serie A TIM players selected on the basis of CPI (a players index that’s calculated by Panini Digital and based on performance and market value); and finally the ‘Top 11’ with the stickers of the eleven players that were voted for by their peers in the 2018/19 season, and this edition also includes a Top 11 for women’s football.
