The FIGC and Turkish Football Federation propose joint bid to host UEFA EURO 2032

Following a complex and productive consultation process, the Federazione Italiana Giuoco Calcio (FIGC) and Turkish Football Federation (TFF) have decided to jointly submit a proposal to UEFA to host UEFA EURO 2032. The success of previous jointly held tournaments (EURO 2020, EURO 2012, EURO 2008), the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland’s bid for EURO 2028, as well as the exciting prospect of the 2026 FIFA WORLD CUP being held in the United States, Mexico and Canada, all prove that sharing events of this magnitude can lead to the direct involvement of a larger number of fans while, at the same time, promoting an even more efficient and sustainable approach.

Should UEFA accept the proposal submitted today, the selection of the host venues (from among those which have already been officially nominated) and the drawing up of the match schedule, which the two federations are proposing to split equally while respecting each other’s competences, would be evaluated at a later stage.

“We are facing a historic turning point where the objective is to enhance continental football,” said FIGC President Gabriele Gravina. “In addition to bringing two consolidated entities in the European football scene closer together, this project promotes the values of friendship and cooperation, involving two worlds characterised by deep historical roots and two cultures which, over the millennia, have mutually influenced each other, helping to shape the history of Mediterranean Europe in the process. Football aims to be a gateway for sharing the passions and emotions related to sport.”
