Today, three members and the president of Co.Vi.So.C. have handed their official resignation letters to FIGC president Gabriele Gravina. Commencing on 30 June, once registration procedures for professional league participation in 2024/25 have concluded, Germana Panzironi (president of TAR Abruzzo), Angelo Fanizza (magistrate at TAR Lazio), Gianna Galluzzo (State Attorney) and Salvatore Mezzacapo (president of TAR Campania – Salerno) will no longer be part of the ‘Commissione di vigilanza per le società professionistiche’. Unanimously voted in last November alongside Professor Giuseppe Marini, and with 3 years still to serve, they have decided to resign – according to the letter – ‘with the passing of the Decree Law that establishes an independent Commission for the verification of economic and financial stability in professional sports businesses, with the simultaneous abolition of Co.Vi.So.C., as operating conditions are no longer met’.
President of the FIGC Gabriele Gravina stated: “I want to thank president Panzironi and his team for the skill and impartiality that they have demonstrated from the very start. I understand the reasons for this choice and I am disappointed that the world of sport will lose such a high-profile figure. In the last few months, they have carried out their duties with professionalism and service, as they have also guaranteed until the end of this sporting season, both in terms of control and in the constant and fruitful exchange for the improvement of regulations concerning economic and financial sustainability of professional football".
