Milan is a candidate to host the 2026 or 2027 Champions League Final

The city of Milan, with the Stadio San Siro, is a candidate to host the Champions League Final in 2026 or 2027. This was announced by UEFA, which confirmed that it had received declarations of interest from nine member associations to host the finals of the club competition in 2026 and 2027. The only other candidate city is Budapest, with the Puskas Arena, where the Europea League Final between Roma and Sevilla was played last May.

San Siro, which has already hosted the Champions League Finals of 2001 and 2016 (in addition to the European Cup Finals of 1965 and 1970), will be the venue for the European Championship qualifying match between Italy and Ukraine on 12 September.

“The choice to nominate Milan to host the Champions League Final - underlined the President of the Federation Gabriele Gravina - is in continuity with the FIGC policy to always open up our country to Europe and to make use of our existing infrastructure for big events. I spoke with Mayor Sala, who said he was enthusiastic. We will work together to give Milan and all of Italy an extraordinary spectacle, one of the most exciting that football can offer.”

The declarations of interest are not binding and the final proposals have to be delivered with the candidate files by 21 February next year, with the UEFA Executive Committee making the venues for the eight finals official in May 2024.

Germany (Gelsenkirchen, Munich or Stuttgart), Norway (Oslo) and Scotland (Glasgow) are in the running for the Women's Champions League finals, while Germany (Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Gelsenkirchen, Leipzig and Stuttgart), Scotland (Glasgow), Romania (Bucharest) and Turkey (Istanbul) are candidates for the Europa League finals. Germany (Leipzig) is also a candidate for the Conference League Finals along with Israel (Jerusalem), Norway (Oslo), Scotland (Glasgow), Switzerland (Geneva) and Turkey (Istanbul).
