Gravina to the fans: "Azzurri excitement must stay safe"
The Federal President, upon arrival in London, puts a damper on any controversy surrounding the referee: "Italy vs. England will be an extraordinary sports event"Saturday, July 10, 2021
The National Team has arrived in London and, after the press conference with Head Coach Roberto Mancini and captain Giorgio Chiellini, they will have a final training session at Tottenham’s sports centre. Leading the delegation is the FIGC President Gabriele Gravina, who on the eve of the final against England felt the need to make a request to all fans: "We are proud of the enthusiasm that the National Team has given to the Italians, it represents a great responsibility that the Azzurri gladly hold. This newfound love between the Azzurri and its supporters must be dealt with responsibly, without putting your own health or that of others at risk. It’s nice to share the passion for this National Team, but celebrations of any kind must be carried out safely and according to the regulations of the competent authorities".
At the team’s arrival at Luton airport in London, Gravina also talked about the refereeing controversy that followed the semi-final between England and Denmark: "To have reached the final is a great result, we will do our best to bring the Cup to Italy. The controversy about the risk of possible biased refereeing, however, does not honour our sporting tradition and risks distracting concentration and attention from the extraordinary sports festival that will be Italy vs. England".
