Gravina on the Superga Tragedy:

"Grande Torino represent a heritage of values that need to be carefully preserved, a legendary team that made history and still unite Italian football in remembrance of these extraordinary champions." On the eve of the 76th anniversary of the Superga Tragedy, Gabriele Gravina lends a thought to Grande Torino. On 21 March, the FIGC President travelled to Superga to pay tribute to those who lost their lives on 4 May 1949.

GRANDE TORINO AT THE MUSEO DEL CALCIO. At the Museo del Calcio, it is possible to relive the memory of the Grande Torino through different artefacts and pieces: from the Torino shirt worn by Virgilio Maroso at the tournament in Brazil in the Summer of 1948, to the Azzurri shirt worn by Romeo Menti. The Museum is also home to a memento shared by the champion: a Fiorentina pin, the team that he loved, which he always carried with him. After the crash on the hills of Superga, the former Head coach Vittorio Pozzo, who was called on to identify the bodies of the players, recognised Menti's body by the pin. Also on display at the Museum are Aldo Ballarin's shin pads and cigarettes, Valentino Mazzola's postal ID card and the gold medal awarded to him after his death. For an entire year, the Azzurri played wearing black armbands. Carlo Parola's shirt is preserved at the museum, with a black band sewn into the left sleeve.
