UEFA Euro Under 21 Italia 2019
Gravina at the end of the tournament: "We won the challenge of participation and hospitality"
Ahead of the final in Udine between Spain and Germany, the FIGC President spoke about the organisation of the tournamentSunday, June 30, 2019
While attending the Under-21 European Championship final at the Stadio Friuli in Udine, FIGC President Gabriele Gravinia commented on how the tournament went, the largest competition hosted by Italy since the 1990 World Cup. “With the final in Udine, the UEFA Euro-21 tournament is coming to a close and it’s been a great satisfaction in terms of organisation. We had four sold-out matches (the three Italy games and final) and over 250,000 tickets were sold. But above all, we won in the most important challenge which was that of participation and hospitality. Above all, we involved young people and lots of families around a value that is vital in sport and in life, respect! It was a difficult but exciting adventure, the FIGIC was strongly motivated and professional in its work alongside UEFA and my special thanks go to the Clubs and civic institutions. This tournament will leave a legacy with modernised facilities and above all, a sense of joy and togetherness along with the knowledge that Italy is ready to host over big sporting events.”
