Gravina accepts the Edela Award: 'The issue of femicides involves everyone, the FIGC is increasingly committed to education'

The President of the FIGC Gabriele Gravina received the Edela Award this morning, a recognition given to personalities from the worlds of art, sport, culture and show business who have distinguished themselves in their respective professions and social work. The Prize, conceived by the founder of the Edela Association Roberto Beolchi and now in its second edition, dedicated to Maurizio Costanza, aims to give voice and support to minors who have lost their mothers because they were killed by their fathers, an ‘issue within an issue’ as a result of femicide.

“Thank you to the Edela Association,” said the Federal President as he collected the award, “who put the spotlight on those who live through these issues. This is a recognition that honours my sensitivity and that of the FIGC, which is increasingly committed to education, especially for young people. We have a great responsibility linked to the widespread popularity and communicative ability of football. We must be witnesses of culture: the social issue of femicide affects everyone and requires urgent measures. Together with Federica Cappelletti, President of the Women’s Serie A, we have launched a series of communication projects to spread these values.”

Gravina was awarded ‘for the great human sensitivity that distinguishes him and the high professional competence that he provides to civil society. He is an example of extraordinary commitment through his role as President of the FIGC, paying attention to those who are least able to defend themselves with concrete actions of support so that football can represent a place of confrontation, example and respect.”

During the event, which took place at the CONI Hall of Honour, the President of the Women’s Serie A, Federica Cappelletti was also honoured for launching #MAIPIÙ, the campaign against gender violence that will be launched this season.

Amongst those honoured, there were author Dacia Maraini, presenters Rita Dalla Chiesa, Alba Parietti and Emma D’Aquino, journalist Francesco Giorgino, criminologist Roberta Bruzzone and painter Fabrizio Di Nardol Camilla Costanzo, daughter of the late journalist Maurizio Costanzo, Alberto Olivetti (President of Enpam), Simona Paravani Mellinghoff (Chief Investment Officer at BlackRock), Luisa Regimenti  (President of the National Association of Legal Doctors and councillor of the Lazio Region), Elisabetta Aldovandri (President of the National Observatory for Crime Victim Support), Cristina Costarelli (President of ANP Lazio) and Marco Manicastri (President of Mondo Riabilitazione) also received an award.
