The FIGC and Italian football mourn the passing of Giovanni Lodetti at the age of 81. Lodetti, who came through AC Milan’s youth ranks, made his Rossoneri debut in 1961. He went on to win the Scudetto (x2), the Coppa Italia, the European Cup (x2), the Intercontinental Cup and Cup Winners’ Cup with AC Milan. During his career, he also played for Sampdoria, Foggia, Novara and the National Team. He scored two goals in 17 appearances for his country, becoming a European Champion in 1968.
"Another big Italian football figure has left us," said FIGC President Gabriele Gravina. "A midfielder full of running and quality, he made history with AC Milan and was also one of the architects of a historic triumph for our National Team. Those who, like Lodetti, have worn the Azzurri shirt with pride will never be forgotten."
