In view of Earth Day, which will be celebrated on Saturday 22 April, the FIGC, as part of its sustainability strategy, is promoting the joint European Commission-UEFA campaign on the topic of environmental sustainability and the climate emergency.
The video launched at major club and national competitions entitled ‘Diventa anche tu un tifoso dell'ambiente e del risparmio energetico’ (Become a fan of the environment and energy saving) highlights some examples of simple actions and sustainable behaviour that every fan should implement in their daily life.
Indeed, football plays a crucial role within civil society, influencing educational processes and amplifying social impact on communities, and UEFA wants to inspire, activate and accelerate collective action to respect human rights and the environment in the context of European football through its Football Sustainability Strategy 2030 - 'Strength through Unity'. The focus on social and environmental issues, encompassed in eleven policies from the defence of human rights to respect for the environment, are central activities in the new strategic approach.
