Federal Prosecution reaches Fagioli decision: 12 month ban, 5 months commuted for rehabilitation

The Federal Prosecution has reached an agreement with footballer Nicolò Fagioli, in which he will be sanctioned with a 12-month suspension, 5 of which will be commuted to rehabilitation along with a fine of 12,500 euros for violating Article 24 of the CGS that prohibits betting on football events organised by FIGC, UEFA and FIFA.

Regarding the alternative prescriptions, Fagioli will have to follow a therapy plan of at least six months and a cycle of at least 10 public meetings. These will be held over a period of 5 months, at amateur sports associations, territorial federal centres and centres for the recovery from gambling addiction, and in any case, according to the programme proposed by the FIGC.

The Federal Prosecutor’s Office will monitor his compliance with the above, and in the event of a violation of this agreement, will take measures within its jurisdiction, pursuant to the CGS. These measures would include termination of the agreement and the continuation of disciplinary proceedings before the judicial body of sporting justice.
