Italian football celebrates the entry of three teams into the finals of UEFA competitions. After Tuesday's qualification of Inter in the Champions League - at the end of an exciting double derby against AC Milan - last night also came those of Roma in the Europa League and Fiorentina in the Conference League. Italy will therefore have its representative in each of the three finals, scheduled for Wednesday 31 May in Budapest (Sevilla vs Roma), Wednesday 7 June in Prague (Fiorentina vs West Ham) and Saturday 10 in Istanbul (Manchester City vs Inter).
"Inter, Roma and Fiorentina have been extraordinary, they have achieved an exceptional result for the entire movement," commented FIGC president Gabriele Gravina in the aftermath of the qualification of three Italian teams in the Champions League, Europa League and Conference League finals. "The enthusiasm generated by these successes is something unique - continued Gravina - for which I congratulate the respective managers, the technical staff and the players, because the three finals of the UEFA competitions are the result of a very valid technical project. In addition to the finalists, the international exploit of Italian football was also strengthened by the positive path of AC Milan and Juventus. These results have put our football in the European limelight: thanks to these clubs, Italy has already won!'.
'Now we will cheer for the success in the finals,' concludes the federal president, who will attend all three scheduled events, 'for sure it will not be easy, but I am convinced that all three have a good chance. For the future, the hope is that, by supporting the Federation's work on youth, economic-financial balance and stadiums, these results will become more and more continuous over time'.
