Euro 2020- Over 19 million ticket applications made, beating the record of France 2016

UEFA received 19.3 million ticket requests during the first sales window for EURO 2020. The tournament which is being hosted across Europe will kick off in Rome and it’s a record number of requests after 11 million requests at the equivalent stage for the 2016 competition in France. 50 per cent of tickets for the final were available in this window (around 43.500) and in total, UEFA have received 44 requests for every single ticket available.
1.9 applications were made for the final at Wembley on 12 July 2020. Over 540,000 applications were made for the opening fixture which will be at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome on 12 June 2020, eight times above capacity.
After the semi-finals and finals, the most in-demand matches were the group stage fixtures in Munich and Amsterdam. On average, each fan applied for 14 tickets in at least two locations with applications from 213 countries.
The location with the highest percentage of local applications was St Petersburg with 81 per cent of the requests coming from Russia. Out of countries not hosting fixtures, there was high demand from Poland, France and Austria. All tickets will be allocated by a random draw at the end of July 2019. Fans will be informed if they were successful by the middle of August 2019.
With tickets in such high demand, UEFA encourages fans who are successful in the ballot to buy their tickets in good time. Tickets which are not brought by successful applicants will go back on sale.
