‘Football for a Better Chance 2.0’ is ready to celebrate its conclusion, a three-year-project, co-financed by the European Commission, in which the FIGC has been a leading figure and supporter of social inclusion and the fight against radicalisation of young people at risk.
The event will take place from Friday 24 to Sunday 26 November at Coverciano and will see sporting moments on the pitch and meetings with those who have been involved in the project, which started off in 2021 in collaboration with the Psychology department at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, focusing on the phenomena of social marginalisation and radicalisation of young people between the ages of 14 and 18 years old in the most disadvantaged social groups and individuals most at risk.
The arrival of delegations from five countries involved in the project (as well as Italy, there is Ireland, Malta, Slovenia and Spain) will be followed by a press conference scheduled for Friday 24 at 14:30 CET at Coverciano. After initial greetings and introductions, work will start with an overview of the project by Barbara Moschini, FIGC's European Project Representative, before continuing with talks from Loris Vezzali and Elisa Bisagno, psychologists from UNIMORE (University of Modena and Reggio Emilia), Daniela Sepio – a sports psychologist for the FIGC's Youth Sector and Education – and Tommaso De Giorgi, Head of Regional Development SGS-FIGC Apulia, with regional team coordinators also present: Cristian Galliano (Campania), Luca Priori (Lazio), Stefano Diana (Emilia-Romagna) and Francesco Fascinato (Veneto).
During the press conference, which will also see FIGC's Youth Sector and Education Secretary Vito Di Gioia and European Commission's Head of Communication Representative Massimo Pronio (also a video message is expected from Teodora Pletosu, EU Public Project Specialist UEFA), the final results from the ‘Football for a better chance 2.0’ project will be presented, which also saw – last May – an international tournament between the project's partners at the Olympic Preparation Centre in Tirrenia. Following this, the delegates present will then enjoy a visit to the Football Museum at Coverciano.
Instead, on Saturday, some technical activities chosen by the girls and boys of the project will be done out on the pitches and, in the afternoon, a tournamnent with an award ceremony afterwards in the lecture hall. ASD Calcio La Ronca (Veneto), Reggiana (Emilia-Romagna), CSV Breda (Lazio), Benevento (Campania) and ASD Calimera (Puglia) will all represent Italy, and they will play against representative sides from Ireland, Spain, Malta and Slovenia.
