Finalists of ‘The Best FIFA Football Awards 2019' announced in Milan

FIFA announced the finalists of The Best FIFA Football Awards™ 2019 today at a media event held at the 'Giuseppe Meazza' stadium. This world-class event will see its final act, the awards ceremony, take place on 23 September at the Teatro alla Scala.

Today's meeting was attended by football legends such as Gianluca Zambrotta, Patrizia Panico, Santiago Solari and Laura Georges. The Mayor of Milan, Giuseppe Sala, was also in attendance, and opened the meeting by expressing her excitement on behalf of the city of Milan for this event, which will take place in Italy for the first time.

Here are the nominations for each category:

The Best FIFA Men's Player:

FIFA Fan Award* - For this category, fans will have the opportunity to vote for their favourite on the FIFA.com website until 23 September when the winner will be announced:

Silvia Grecco: the Brazilian mother who passionately describes every Palmeiras game to her blind son.

The immense support from the fans of the Dutch national team at the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup in France.

Justo Sánchez: the Uruguayan father who changed allegiance and now never misses a single match of his rival team in memory of his late son.

 

Finally, the shortlist of the 55 candidates for the FIFA FIFPro Men's World 11 will be announced on the digital channels of both FIFA and FIFPro on Thursday 5 September at 13:00 CEST.

It should be noted that for the first time, after the great success of the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup in France, footballers from around the world will also select the Women's World 11: for which the shortlist shall be unveiled on Wednesday 4 September at 13:00 CEST.
