Valentina Cernoia was the Azzurre’s MVP from Lithuania 0-5 Italy – the fourth straight win for Milena Bertolini’s side in 2023 World Cup qualifying group G.
The midfielder received 43.59% of the votes from fans on the FIGC site, followed by Valeria Pirone (29.51%) and Valentina Giacinti (10.26%).
Cernoia scored the first of Italy’s five goals with a stunning free-kick, which left goalkeeper Lukjančukė with no chance. In the 22nd minute, it was Cernoia’s cross that set up Pirone for the Azzurre’s second of the day; the assist capped off a dazzling display for the Juventus midfielder.
This is the second time that Cernoia has been named the Azzurre’s MVP after picking up the award after last week’s victory over Croatia.
