On 15 May 1910, there were approximately 4,000 spectators in the stands of the Arena Civica di Milano for the match between Italy and France. It was the first historical match for the National Team, who won 6-2 against Les Bleus thanks to a hat-trick from Lana and goals from Fossati, Rizzi and Debernardi.
114 years later, a much larger number of people are set to attend the 'Giuseppe Meazza' for the 41st match between Italy and France. 65,000 tickets have been sold so far and the fixture is close to being sold out. Once again Milan has responded to the calls of the National Team, as they will be back to play at San Siro, 14 months after the win against Ukraine (2-1, Frattesi brace) in a EURO 2024 qualifying match.
VISUALLY IMPAIRED FANS. Following on from what we carried out in the recent matches in Italy for the National Team, the audio-description service for visually impaired fans will once again be in place for the match against France. The FIGC has invited 25 visually impaired spectators with those who are accompanying them, respectively. These people will be able to follow the match thanks to a match commentary dedicated to them.
TRIBUTE TO GIGI RIVA. In the pre-match build up of Italy vs France, the FIGC will remember Gigi Riva, the azzurro champion who would've been 80 on 7 November. A video of some of the most iconic goals of the 'Roar of Thunder' will be broadcast on the big screens, while a part of the pitch will be turned into a canvas, where images will be mixed with 3D animations and rays of light position on pitch side, enabling the tribute to the highest scoring player of the National Side, to be memorable.
PREMIO CAMPANATI. Before kick-off, the 'Premio Giulio Campanati' in memory of the ex-president of the AIA who passed away in 2011, will be awarded. Promoted by the Association of the Friends of Giulio Campanati with the Milan AIA section, the recognition is assigned to the best referee in Europe and the world. On Sunday, the best referee from EURO 2024 will be awarded the prize.
