The National Team ready to take to the pitch for ‘Uno Storico Europeo’
From 12 June to 12 July, it'll be possible to experience a virtual European Championship through the FIGC's website and the Azzurri's social media channelsThursday, June 11, 2020
Tomorrow, on the day that Roberto Mancini’s National Team were meant to take to the pitch to play Turkey in the opening match of EURO 2020, the FIGC is launching ‘Uno Storico Europeo’ ('A Historic European Championship'), a virtual competition involving Azzurri champions from 1968 to 2016.
The digital content, which will be published on the FIGC’s website and the social media channels belonging to the National Team, aims to showcase Italy’s experiences at European Championships through match highlights, exclusive interviews, historic documents and contributions from media partners of the FIGC.
Starting from tomorrow and finishing on 12 July – the period when EURO 2020 would have taken place – feats achieved by the Azzurri in seven different editions of the competition will allow all of Italy’s fans to relive timeless memories and emotions.
Italy’s ‘opener’ will come against Germany (12 June), followed by further group fixtures against England (18 June) and France (25 June). After this, there will be knockout fixtures for Azzurri fans to enjoy.
It will be possible to follow all these matches through video highlights with RAI commentary, historic works published by Gazzetta dello Sport, Corriere dello Sport and Tuttosport, a detailed statistical analysis of the key player during the relevant match and an exclusive video interview with one of the champions on the pitch. The content will be further enriched by photo galleries, memorabilia found in the Museum of Football at Coverciano and a contribution from Radio Italia highlighting the Italian music that was being listened to in the year that the respective matches took place.
All the ‘Uno Storico Europeo’ content will be published on the National Team’s social media channels (with the hashtag #UnoStoricoEuropeo) and by the editorial partners involved.
