Giorgio Chiellini (36 years and 301 days on the opening matchday) is the oldest outfield player to have taken to the pitch for Italy in either a European Championship or World Cup tournament.

Giorgio Chiellini took part in his fourth European Championship, drawing level with fellow Azzurri record-holders Gianluigi Buffon and Alessandro Del Piero in this respect.

Giorgio Chiellini became the third-oldest player to play in a European Championship final (36 years and 331 days vs. England), behind only the German Jens Lehmann (38 years and 232 days in 2008) and the Dutchman Arnold Mühren (37 years and 23 days in 1988).

Gianluigi Donnarumma (22 years and 106 days on the opening matchday) is the youngest Italy goalkeeper to have taken to the pitch in either a European Championship or World Cup tournament.

Manuel Locatelli became the third player to score a brace for Italy at a European Championship, with the midfielder following in the footsteps of Pierluigi Casiraghi (vs. Russia at Euro 1996) and Mario Balotelli (vs. Germany at Euro 2012).

Thanks to his two goals at Euro 2020, Ciro Immobile now has 15 to his name in the Italy shirt. This makes him the Azzurri man with the most goals out of the players who are still currently active.

Matteo Pessina has scored four goals in 393 minutes for Italy: an average of one every 98 minutes.

Thanks to his goal against England, Leonardo Bonucci (34 years and 71 days that day) became the oldest player to score in a European Championship final, surpassing the German Bernd Hölzenbein (30 years and 103 days in 1976) in this respect.

After being selected to play in the final, Leonardo Bonucci become the Italian with the most European Championship appearances (18). In general, he drew level with Bastian Schweinsteiger (18) in this regard, with only three players having done better: Cristiano Ronaldo (25), Pepe (19) and João Moutinho (19).
