The full-back put in a brilliant performance yesterday and was chosen by fans in a poll on the FIGC websiteSaturday, July 3, 2021
Leonardo Spinazzola was the Azzurri’s MVP from Belgium vs. Italy in the quarter-finals of the Euros, which ended in a 2-1 triumph for Mancini’s men.
The 28-year-old received 37.45% of the votes on the fan poll on the FIGC website, ahead of Lorenzo Insigne (18.53%) and Gianluigi Donnarumma (17.76%).
It was a performance that was very much in keeping with the high standards that Spinazzola has set throughout this tournament. A display replete with dedication and self-sacrifice. He was decisive on the hour mark when he blocked Lukaku’s attempt from very close range. Furthermore, he was a constant outlet for the Azzurri down the left flank and came close to scoring with a volleyed effort after 65 minutes.
Unfortunately, he was forced off the pitch with ten minutes to go due to a severe injury.
