Happy birthday to Mario Balotelli, who turns 30 today!

Mario Balotelli was born in Palermo on 12 August 1990. He started his career with Inter's youth setup, before making his Serie A debut with the club under Roberto Mancini at just 17 years of age, on 16 December 2007. In his three seasons with the Nerazzurri he won six trophies: three Scudetti, one Supercoppa Italiana, one Coppa Italia and one Champions League. In the summer of 2010, he joined Manchester City in England, before returning to Serie A in January 2013, this time with AC Milan. On 25 August 2014, he signed for Liverpool, taking him back to the Premier League, before a spell with Naviglio’s AC Milan, and a move to Nice, where he scored 33 goals in 33 games. Balotelli made his debut for the Italy National Team at 19, on 10 August 2010, in our friendly clash with Ivory Coast in London. A year later, he scored his first goal for the Azzurri, on 11 November 2011, in another friendly, this time against Poland. He also participated in our 2012 European Championship campaign in Poland and Ukraine, where he was instrumental in our run to the final, which we went on to lose against Spain. With three goals, the Azzurri striker was crowned top scorer of the tournament (alongside five other players), and he was the first Italian to achieve this feat in the National Team’s history. He made a further crucial contribution in qualification for the 2014 World Cup: on 16 October 2012, he scored at San Siro against Denmark, before repeating the feat on 26 March 2013, bagging a brace to secure victory in Malta. He was back in the spotlight at the Confederations Cup later that year, where he once again finished top scorer, with two goals. A year later, he took part in our 2014 World Cup campaign in Brazil, where he scored once, scoring once, securing a 2-1 victory over England in our first match of the tournament.

Balotelli has so far made 36 appearances for the Italy National Team, with 14 goals for his country.
