Leonardo Bonucci was born on 1 May 1987. He developed at Viterbese before taking the first big step of his career in 2005 when he moved to the Inter academy. He made his Serie A debut for the Nerazzurri on 14 May 2006, playing at the end of an away match at Cagliari. Between 2007 and 2010, he played for Treviso, Pisa, Genoa and Bari before moving to Juventus. He’s been a key figure for the Bianconeri in their years of success under Antonio Conte and Massimiliano Allegri, winning the Scudetto five times, Coppa Italia twice and Supercoppa Italiana three times.
In the summer of 2018, Bonucci moved to AC Milan and became captain. The following year, he returned to Juventus and won the Supercoppa and league again.
Bonucci’s first Italy appearance was on 3 March 2010 in a friendly against Cameroon. Three months later, he scored his first goal on 3 June but unfortunately, it wasn’t enough as the side lost 1-2 to Mexico. ‘Leo’ was called up by Lippi for the 2010 World Cup where he didn’t make an appearance. He later became a key player for Prandelli and Conte, playing at the 2012 and 2016 European Championships, the 2014 World Cup and the 2013 Confederations Cup.
So far, Bonucci has made 87 Italy appearances and scored six goals.
