Today, Gabriele Oriali turns 68. He represented Italy at the 1982 World Cup and is the current team manager of the Azzurri. Born on 25 November 1952, he spent a large part of his career at Inter, making his debut in 1970/1971. In thirteen seasons with the Nerazzurri, he won two Serie A and two Coppa Italia titles, before joining Fiorentina in 1983. He concluded his career with the Viola four years later, at 35 years old. With the National team, Oriali made his debut in December 1978 against Spain. After playing in the Euros at home in 1980, the peak of his career with the Azzurri was in 1982, when at the age of 29 he was crowned World Champion on Iberian soil.
After a remarkable career on the pitch, he began his life as a manager with Solbiatese in the early 90s. He achieved a double promotion with Bologna as technical director. Oriali got a taste of European success when he moved to Parma. Returning to Inter in 1999, he became technical director, which culminated with the year of the "treble". In 2014, he made his way to Coverciano as team manager of the Azzurri, inheriting the Gigi Riva’s role. In this position, he was in collaboration with Conte and Ventura, a position which he still holds today under Roberto Mancini’s management.
