Alessandro Florenzi was born in Rome on 11 March 1991. His great flexibility allows him to effectively cover all roles in midfield, as well as those of full-back and attacking winger.
A product of the Roma youth academy, Florenzi found a great admirer in Bruno Conti and made his debut in Serie A with the Giallorossi aged just 20 years old, taking over from another World Champion, Francesco Totti. After an excellent season in Serie B with Crotone, he became an important pawn in the new Roma, to the point of earning his first call-up to the Under 21 national team, soon followed by the senior national team. With the Azzurrini he was the star of the 2013 European Championship, from the qualifiers to the unfortunate final that was lost to Spain in Jerusalem. In January 2020 he moved to Valencia on loan, then in September he went to PSG, with whom he won his first trophy: the French Super Cup.
Cesare Prandelli was the man who opened the Azzurri doors for Florenzi, in a friendly match with France on 14 November 2012, aged just 21 years old. One year later, in the final qualifying match for the 2014 World Cup, he scored his first goal in the Azzurri shirt, against Armenia. In 2016 he played at the European Championship in France, starting four matches. Since the arrival of Coach Mancini, his consistent deployment in the national team has not changed. Up until now he has collected 40 appearances and scored two goals for the Azzurri.
