The best Italians of the 2019/20 Serie A season according to the media

This column, which is dedicated to the best Italian players on any given Serie A matchday, is compiled using ratings from Gazzetta dello Sport, Corriere dello Sport and Tuttosport. Once again, the final edition comes after Juventus’ retained the Scudetto.

At the top of this particular ranking, we have Ciro Immobile, of course. The Lazio striker was the top scorer in Serie A this season (equalling Higuain’s record of 36 goals), has been ranked as the best Italian player a total of ten times this season in terms of average score.

Behind him we have two more attackers, who have been the best of any given matchday a total of four times apiece. First up, we have one of the surprises of the season; Sassuolo’s Francesco Caputo bagged 21 goals (a personal record) this season. Next, it’s Torino striker Andrea Belotti, who, despite an underwhelming season for the team as a whole, was able to make a profound impact in the league, especially in the first half of the season.
