Papetti could not have had a better coming-of-age gift than this, having only just celebrated his 18th birthday. Your first goal scored in Serie A is always a watershed moment for a young player, who dreams of making it to the pinnacle of Italian football, and it was made even sweeter by the fact that it came in the Rondinelle’s first victory of 2020. Calm, methodical and precise in everything he does, he has now all but secured his place as one of Diego Lopez’s starting centre-backs. His defensive work has been rewarded with a goal at the other end.

 

Lorenzo INSIGNE (G 7; C 7; T 7,5)     Napoli 2-1

It was a great night for Insigne, constantly at the centre of Napoli’s game. He makes excellent movements, ducks out of the way, and creates chances for his teammates. Then comes the magic, with his trademark right turn that always lights up the San Paolo.

 

Lorenzo VENUTI (G 7; C 7; T 7)     Parma 1-2 Fiorentina

Venuti won both the penalties for the Viola, both converted by Pulgar, securing the three points and providing his side with some breathing space in the Serie A table. He also rattled the crossbar and battled hard for all of the 45 minutes he spent on the field. It was a performance that showed great character and intensity, which is exactly what manager Giuseppe Iachini is looking for from his team.
