Matteo Pessina and Mattia Zaccagni were the best Italian players on matchday 15 in Serie A according to the top three sports newspapers in Italy.
Pessina shone in Atalanta’s thumping 5-1 win over Sassuolo, while Zaccagni scored the only goal of the game as Verona recorded an away victory over Spezia. Both earned an average score of 7.83 after receiving an 8 from La Gazzetta dello Sport and the Corriere dello Sport-Stadio and a 7.5 from Tuttosport.
Pessina scored the second of Atalanta’s five goals yesterday, bagging his first of the season (also his first for La Dea) and eighth of his Serie A career in the process. It was a quality display from the midfielder, who was also involved in the build-up to the Orobici’s first and third goals.
Zaccagni, who was also rated as the best Italian on matchday 9 following his performance against Atalanta, impressed once more. This time around, he was decisive against Spezia, scoring his fourth goal of the season. All of these have come in the past seven matchdays.
