Manuel Lazzari was the best Italian player on matchday 18 in Serie A according to the ratings given to him by the three principal sports publications in the country.
The Lazio wide man was the highest-rated player for the second consecutive matchday, but if he shared the accolade last time out with Roma’s Lorenzo Pellegrini, this time, he is all alone thanks to a dazzling display in the Derby della Capitale. Lazzari’s average rating was 8.17, thanks to the 8.5 from Corriere dello Sport-Stadio, and the 8’s from La Gazzetta dello Sport and Tuttosport.
He was fantastic in the Derby, putting in the hard yards for 90 minutes and having a hand in all three Lazio goals. For the first, he won the ball from Ibañez, causing for the ball to drop perfectly for Immobile to stroke it home. Then, he turned on the jets to beat the Brazilian defender once more before teeing up Luiz Alberto to make it 2-0 (fifth assist of the season). Lazzari also started off the move for Lazio’s third as he released Akpa Akpro, who set up Luis Alberto for his second of the night. It was certainly an unforgettable night for Lazzari.
