Manuel Lazzari and Lorenzo Pellegrini were the best Italian players on matchday 17 in Serie A according to the top three sports newspapers in Italy.
Lazzari stood out in Lazio’s victory over Parma, while Pellegrini was a key figure during the big showdown between Roma and Inter. Both earned an average score of 7.17. The Biancocelesti man was given a 7.5 by La Gazzetta dello Sport and a 7 by both the Corriere dello Sport-Stadio and Tuttosport. Meanwhile, the Giallorossi player received a 7 from both La Gazzetta dello Sport and Tuttosport, with the Corriere dello Sport-Stadio going for a slightly higher score of 7.5.
Lazzari was a thorn in the side of the Parma defence and was heavily involved in the goal that broke the deadlock: he started the move that led to it after winning the ball back in midfield, and he then supplied the cross that was fired into the net by Luis Alberto. It was Lazzari’s third assist of the season.
At the Olimpico, Pellegrini was a key contributor to Roma’s attacking play and opened the scoring with a left-footed effort. The Giallorossi man has now scored three times in the league this campaign after previously doing so against Bologna and Torino.
