Lorenzo Montipò rated as best Italian player on matchday 28 by the media
The Benevento shot-stopper put in a stellar performance against JuventusMonday, March 22, 2021
Lorenzo Montipò was the best Italian player on matchday 28 in Serie A according to the top three sports newspapers in Italy.
He kept a clean sheet in a historic win for Filippo Inzaghi’s side away at Juventus. His stellar performance in goal earned him an average media rating of 7.67, thanks to the 7 given by La Gazzetta dello Sport and two 8’s from Corriere dello Sport-Stadio and Tuttosport.
He was the key figure in the game, making at least five noteworthy saves. In the first half, he did brilliantly to deny Morata’s shot across the face of goal and De Ligt’s header. After the break, he made a smart stop to deny a potential Barba own goal and, in the final ten minutes, twice thwarted close-range efforts from Cristiano Ronaldo.
These saves, along with Gaich’s goal, saw Benevento take a huge three points in their bid for survival.
