After an excellent performance that saw him score a goal and provide an assist against Sampdoria, according to Opta data, Riccardo Sottil is deservedly the Italian MVP from matchday 15. After a mixed start to the season, Sottil is slowly making more of an impact under Vincenzo Italiano, thus contributing to Fiorentina’s positive Serie A campaign up to this point. Indeed, the Viola have won four successive home matches in the Italian top flight and scored at least three goals in each of these games – the first time this has happened since December 1960.
The young winger has already bagged two goals during the current Serie A campaign, the same tally he achieved at Cagliari in 21 appearances last season.
Against Sampdoria, Riccardo Sottil found the net and set up a teammate to score in the same match for the first time in Serie A. He combined well with his fellow Viola players in attack, finishing with a 93.2% pass completion rate, while he also contributed to the defensive side of things, winning the ball back on six occasions and helping Fiorentina hit the Blucerchiati on the counter quickly.
