Italians in Serie A: Giovanni Di Lorenzo stands out on matchday 29

According to Opta data, the MVP from matchday 29 in Serie A was Giovanni di Lorenzo, who was in fine form against Verona.

The full-back performed excellently on the right flank, providing a perfect assist for Victor Osimhen to make it 2-0 to Napoli against Hellas Verona. The 28-year-old has started all 29 of the Azzurri’s fixtures so far this Serie A campaign, making a significant contribution to Napoli’s away form. Indeed, the Partenopei are the team that have picked up the most points on the road in 2021/22 (34), and they’ve lost just one of their last 19 away fixtures in Serie A (W14, D4), scoring 38 goals in the process (an average of two per game).

Against Verona, Giovanni Di Lorenzo provided his second assist of the season and his eleventh since he started featuring for Napoli in Serie A. In addition to making his mark in attack, the full-back did his defensive duties well too: he was the Azzurri player who was on the end of most fouls (five), made the most interceptions (six) and was involved in the most tackles (five) against the Gialloblù.
